American Academy of Self Defense Celebrates the Awaited Chinese New Year

The most awaited event of the year is finally coming. It has said to be the most important celebration marked in the Chinese calendar. Today, in the year of the tiger; Chinese New Year is fast approaching and it will be a very exciting festival of the year 2010. The festivity of Chinese New Year 4708 will mark a big boom starting Feb 14 same with the Celebration of the day of hearts, the Valentine’s Day. With the combination power of these two amazing events, it will be an enormous festival of the year.

With this festivities traditionally celebrated yearly, people will stop from work to meet this holiday and celebrate it wi
th family and friends. Red is the color of the Chinese New Year which said to be a powerful tool to drive away bad luck according to Chinese legends and in coincidence, red is also a representation of the Valentine’s Day, which symbolizes love.

Activities during Chinese New Year: People wear red clothes during this event, write poems and sayings in a piece of red paper and give money to children placed in a red envelop. There will be fabulous fireworks that will shower all over the place and people will lit fires from bamboo stalks that is said to drive away bad spirits. People will prepare delicious foods and gather around. It is the best time for family to have a reunion. People from America and all over the world also join to celebrate this remarkable celebration of the Chinese. And the most awaited Lantern Festival with the highlight of the Dragon Dance will be celebrated on the 15th day of the first lunar month. It will be a great work of art for there will be lanterns everywhere on this incredible parade.

ZUMBA Workout| Your way to Shapely Body

Many people think of The American Academy of Self Defense as just a "self defense' school”. Well, it’s true. Our training center has an excellent reputation for martial arts and self defense. Our Martial Arts Instructors all adhere to a regimen of workouts to be in great shape to perform their martial arts at the highest standards and set role model examples to our students. We have developed a program that challenges our students in every way possible. All workout classes are a nose to toes, sixty minute total body workout

The American Academy of Self Defense Workout Program starts with our Ka-Robics Workout. Ka-Robics stands for Karate Aerobics. This class utilizes karate strikes and kicks at a fast paced tempo to reach maximum calorie burn. Club music usually drives the beat and enhances the workouts boosting up the energy from our students making each session exciting and full of fun. Our Cardio-Kickboxing Class is taught by The US Kickboxing Champion. He brings the same workout he uses to get ready for any Championship Kickboxing Match. Bag workouts and Shadow sparring are especially good techniques he uses to get the most out of his class. All classes end with a core drill and stretching.

Another Class that is challenging is our "Boot Camp" Workout. Station to station Interval fitness drills are laid out and switched every 2 minutes. Medicine balls, jump ropes and light weights are used to tone and tighten all muscle groups. Other classes use step and plyogenic exercises to cross train you for a total workout and burn which means physically fit and healthy body.

The latest class for workout that we have has quickly become very popular because of the Latin Dance Crave in America. This newest Latin dance workout that we call "ZUMBA" can pretty much benefit the students to stay on shape especially if he or she is a kind of person who has the passion in dancing workouts. Well, many are aware that on this kind of workout, there is more of fun while burning calories. Sounds Great! Our Latin "ZUMBA" Class here at The American Academy of Self Defense is not only fun but also promotes your well-being. As a matter of fact, it burns more calories per hour than any other workout. The great thing here is that Professional model and ZUMBA Instructor Yanni has her class on super burn incorporating hot dance moves with a Loud Banging Latin Music Background. This can guarantee our students supercharged and exciting. Everyone leaves not only having a great time but knowing they worked hard to reach one goal-- stays in great shape.
